About

Neil Horning has very limited conversational ability. In most locations he will [sometimes not so] slyly shift the topic of conversation to Nepal. When in Nepal his conversational topics are limited to Maoist rebels and their relation to the international power structure. Occasionally, when pressed, he will speak on the subject of Ubuntu Linux, Battlestar Galactica, or other esoteric obsessions.

Neil holds a bachelors degree in International Relations from San Francisco State University. It is a field he was sucked violently into (out of Art) after taking a terribly interesting course. He subsequently wrote 120+ pages on Nepalese Foreign policy, moved to Nepal, and began interviewing Maoist combatants in order to become a “Maoist Expert.”

During a two year period between receiving his diploma cover on a stage, and actually graduating from University, Neil raised over $700,000 for various charities and development programs as a Fundraiser for Dialog Direct. This has resulted in various mental complexes and behavioral issues, one of which manifests its self in his answering begging street children with, “Get a Job!” Neil recently finished teaching English in Korea to recover from debt and is back gallivanting around Nepal. He volunteers for two non-profits including the Conflict Study Center <www.cscenter.org.np>.
